Caring for Each Other at Femø
On this page, you can find information about how we take care of each other and set expectations based on your needs. In general, anyone can participate regardless of physical ability, shape, or size, as long as you can walk on uneven ground, sleep in a simple way, and manage without a hairdryer (there is no electricity or plumbing at the camp).
Food
The food at the camp is as organic as possible. You can register as either an omnivore, vegetarian, or vegan, and we buy food based on these choices. If you have allergies or special dietary needs, you can mention them when signing up. We do our best to accommodate allergies, such as preparing a portion of soup without garlic. However, if you need specific food items, you must bring them yourself.
Sleeping Arrangements
You should bring your own sleeping mat. For some, a week on an air mattress or thin mat may not be possible due to back pain or other issues. The camp has a limited number of foam mattresses (first come, first served) and a small number of camp beds, which are reserved for those who need them the most. If you require a camp bed, contact your weekly team.
Mobility Challenges
Unfortunately, the Femø Camp is not wheelchair-friendly. There are no paved roads, and there are no accessible toilet facilities. If you and a helper wish to join the camp, you are very welcome, and we can help you find alternative accommodation on the island. Please note that the gender policies of each week also apply to helpers.
Guide Dogs
Pets are not allowed at the camp, but guide dogs are welcome. If you need to bring a guide dog, please talk to your weekly team.
Single-Day Registration
At Femø Women’s Camp, we prefer if everyone registers for a full week, from Saturday to Saturday. The camp works best when participants stay for the entire week. This is not only because the practical tasks (duties) are equally important at the beginning and end of the week. It also strengthens the social atmosphere and community when as many participants as possible stay for the whole week. However, we know that some cannot participate for a full week due to physical or mental challenges. Or because it is difficult to match with the travel arrangements from abroad. Therefore, at Inti Week, you can also sign up for single-days – and for hopefully as many as possible!
Solidarity Spots
Femø Women’s Camp offers a few solidarity spots (free stay) for those with an extraordinarily low income such as for example for those from “low income countries” in Eastern Europe. Please note that reduced prices are already available for students, unemployed persons, etc. To apply for a spot, please send an email to the Camp Office at **kontoret[a]kvindelejren.dk**, briefly explaining your situation and specifying whether you are applying for a full or partial price reduction. Solidarity spots are allocated based on an individual assessment and the camp’s financial situation.
